When to fly

Sun seekers should book a flight to Blackpool resort between June and the end of August, although sunny weather cannot be guaranteed and there is always a possibility of rain. During this period the beach will be slightly busier, definitely if you happen to arrive on one of the hot days.

If you’re not too fussed about the sun, flight prices tend to drop outside of the summer season, so budget travellers may want to book a cheap flight to Blackpool between March and May or September and October. Temperatures from March to May are generally between 3 and 15 degrees Celsius, whereas, it is slightly warmer in September and October, with temperatures around 7 to 17 degrees. If you visit during these times, you will still be able to experience many attractions the town has to offer, such as the Pleasure Beach and zoo, which are available all year round.

Visiting in September and October will also allow you to witness one of the most iconic sights in British culture, the annual lights festival - Blackpool Illuminations. This is Britain’s most famous light show, which is created differently each year to bring something new and unique to the crowds who come back every year to see it. The World Fireworks Championship also takes place in September, which brings together the world’s firework elite in one place to create a jaw-dropping display, as they fight it out to be crowned the winner.

Temperatures get even cooler during the winter months and on average can be as low as 1 degree to 9 degrees. There is also more rainfall during this time so make sure you pack accordingly.

City overview

Getting downtown from the airport

Take a budget cheap flight airline and land at Blackpool International Airport (BLK) which is around 3 miles (5 km) from Blackpool city centre. It services Lancashire and the North West. Getting into town is simple as there are buses which will transport you to the centre of town. International flights to Manchester Airport (MAN) can take the train to Blackpool North.
