Service was wonderful, we were a little surprised by the jump in costs

They canceled my reservation an hour prior to when I was scheduled to pick up the vehicle. The previous renter did not return on time. I was left to call other locations to see if any had a cargo van available. None did. Ended up at UHaul.

Rental car rates have become outrageous. But then, to pay that much to rent a car and then have to wait for nearly an hour in line to pick it up after you have flown for hours and still have a 3 Hour Drive ahead is ridiculous.

The line was 2 hours.

Had to pay an extra charge for third party liability insurance (TP). This extra charge wasn't mentioned on the Kayak website and was not included in the Allianz extra coverage (FDW, or full liability waiver) that I purchased.

Drop off was pretty easy. Pick up was not. First, the car was dirty. The windows had not been wiped down and I had to do that myself in order to see clearly. The vehicle came with an odd charger that had to be plugged in, in order to connect to CarPlay. The local Avis provided that charger for me after I returned to the lot to let them know that I was not able to connect to CarPlay via Bluetooth. The car also was not all the way filled with gas. It was supposed to be for when I picked it up and it was not.

Loved the car but was dirty and kept asking for maintence. Had to stop to get air in tires twice in 3 days

The price for car rentals are up folks! Stupid me I bought got the option for the rental to be gas instead of me. I did a double take which was too late, dude $90. WTF! The fact that I reserved a car in San Diego and when I got to hertz they told me my rental was in TJ. I called when I made my online reservation and asked about pickup the person helping me told me about the shuttle and nowhere when selecting and reserving my car did I see that it was for pickup up in TJ. Anyways, the guys at hertz wouldn't honor the price, so I took my business to another rental car place.

I love that all of my interactions were hassle free with no aggressive upselling. It felt like your agents were on my side and treated with respect and not a dollar sign.

When arriving at airport called number for shuttle to pick up only to be told the company went out of business stranding me at the airport with no rental and offered no help. Didn't receive any prior notice that they went out of business so I could make alternate arrangements

Car was at Mexican border not in San Diego as advertised

Never got the car ..called back to cancel reservation ..none of the phone numbers worked all said out of service ..unable to complete call ..not a working number ..and some Spanish message …I put in the San Diego airport and your system was sending me to who knows where in San Diego ..wasn’t the airport

They refused to give me the car because “we don’t do rentals under 24 hours notice”, however it showed up on kayak. They refused to listen to this argument, blaming kayak instead.

It's great to support a local business and all Economy employees were helpful and professional. We will definitely use this business in the future. I liked the simplicity of checkout where car condition is simply videoed and shared. Very smart. The only possible improvements are: 1) Let customers know either in the text message or at check-in that the shuttle will return us directly to the airport. That's a wonderful benefit and we ended up dropping the car off earlier than needed because we anticipated dealing with the chaos that is the large centralized rental center. 2) The process of getting from airport to Economy was stressful given the horrible lines for transport to the large centralized rental center (we waited over an hour) and then the uncertainty of whether we could get on the van to Economy. Next time we will likely just Uber directly to Economy. But, overall, excellent experience with Economy and we will be returning customers.

My written confirmation stated “Unlimited Mileage.” When I asked at the counter, the agent, Isaac, confirmed that mileage was unlimited. After I returned the car, I received an electronic invoice charging me for every mile over 400 miles. When I complained, I was told that the policy was “on their website.” I was not provided with a written or electronic rental agreement at pick-up, and, none of the electronic waivers they had me initial addressed mileage. Very shady.

Car was nice, service was nice. Just beware that they charge $30/day for insurance and have a 100mi/day limit.
