For the most part, you’ll find the most options for flying to Europe from Toronto taking off from Pearson International Airport. You can find various options flying into London, Paris, or Rome, depending on where you’re going on your trip. London Heathrow is the busiest airport in the UK, as well as in Europe. That means you’ll find the most options for this route. The airport in Paris is called Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, or Roissy Airport. This one is the second busiest airport in Europe so also a good choice for options. Another good option is flying into Rome at Rome-Fiumicino International Airport “Leonardo da Vinci”. This is also one of the busiest airports in Europe and certainly the main airport for Italy.
There are some choices of direct flights from Toronto to London. These airlines include Air Canada, Iberia, British Airways, American Airlines, and Lufthansa. From Toronto to Paris, you can fly with Air Canada, Delta, Air France, Lufthansa, and Brussels Airlines. Non-stop to Rome, you’ll find Air Transat, Delta, Alitalia, KLM, Air France, and Air Canada all have direct flights that are about 8h 15m.
You’ll find all kinds of stopovers when you’re flying from Toronto to Europe. Flying to Rome, you might stop in Boston, Detroit, or New York. Some stopovers are just an hour or two, others are more than nine hours. Flying into Paris you’ll find stopovers in Washington DC, Atlanta, Montreal, Charlotte, and New York. Most of these are under four hours, but there are some that go over that amount of time. Stopovers going to London are much like those going to Paris. You could stop in New York, Montreal, Charlotte, or Washington DC. You’ll have some stopovers that are as short as 39m while others are more than seven hours.
Right now, you’ll only need a passport that’s valid for six months past your travel dates to enter countries in Europe. You do not need a visa for trips to Europe. However, that is going to change in 2021 so you’ll need to check requirements for that time.
