Renting a car in Croatia is the best and sometimes only option for getting to your destinations, depending upon your itinerary. Public transportation requires many transfers in Croatia, while renting a car gives you the freedom to make as many or as few stops as you wish. And depending upon where you stay, a rental car may be necessary to get you to basic amenities such as ATMs, grocery stores, and banks. Croatia is home to some beautiful coastal villages that live off-the-beaten-path and which you won’t want to miss but can’t experience without your own means of transportation.
When booking your rental car in Croatia, you will want to consider the time of year you will be visiting. As with many services during peak travel season, car rental prices increase significantly during Croatia’s busy July and August months. In addition to rocketing prices, the number oftravellerss visiting at this time can affect the availability of rental cars. We recommend booking as early as possible to ensure you secure your rental and get the best possible price. This is especially true if you are interested in renting an automatic car, as Croatia and most European companies tend to have more manual cards on hand.
One thing to note before you head out in your rental is that you will be charged an additional fee through your rental company if you intend to bring your car on a ferry. Basic insurance allows you to drive on the Croatian islands, but it will not cover damage that might take place while at sea. Note that ferry schedules can vary. We recommend that you check the ferry's calendar in advance and arrive early, especially during peak tourist seasons.

Very nice workers at airport both inside and outside. Easy to work with and helpful when we wanted to make a slight change in reservation return time. Car was in good shape and performed without problems. Honest about any damage ahead of time and did not scam on return for false damage. Easy to pick up and return. Only issue was key drop as there were two locations and not sure we had placed keys in best one (inside versus outside by kiosk). Glad we went with Avis and not some other off brand trying to save a few dollars. The entire experience was great! Highly recommend to use.
