Amarillo has a basically dry, semi-arid climate with four distinct seasons. Summers are scorching hot, and winters can be numbingly cold. Renting a car is the best way to get around Amarillo. Driving is the most popular, and often the only, method of transportation. Some will rent to people who are ages 21 to 24, but charge a surcharge. Buses run from Monday through Saturday between 6:15am and 7pm.
