April to September is peak season in this medieval city. It is during this time that most tourists and those with second homes in the area visit. Carcassonne’s atmosphere comes alive from June to August as these months host the Carcassonne Festival. Book flights to Carcassonne during these months for this unmissable event, which features a vast programme of around 100 concerts and shows such as theatre, circus, dance, jazz, opera and classical music. Many renowned artists such as Diana Ross, Artic Monkeys and Bob Dylan have taken to the stage at Carcassonne festival over the years.

The French city of Carcassonne, situated in the Languedoc region, is widely known as a fortified city on the north bank of the River Aude. All turrets, towers and ramparts, the historic Carcassonne is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and even features its own basilica, the Basilica of St-Nazaire.
