The Mayans called Cozumel the Island of the Swallows. Today, it’s known as one of the best dive sites in the world. Divers take cheap flights to Cozumel to practise their sport amid the walls, reefs and abundant of sea life of these protected waters.
Cozumel lies just 20km off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in the State of Quintana Roo. On the west coast, between the north and south hotel zones, is San Miguel.
