Flights from Canada to Cebu City, Philipinnes vary by where you’re travelling from. Vancouver and Toronto are the only two major Canadian cities that offer flights to the Mactan-Cebu International Airport. The shortest flight times are generally out of Vancouver, averaging between 16h 45m with one stop to 21h 10m; travel times increase with the number of connecting flights and stopovers. Toronto has the second shortest flight times from Canada to Cebu City, Phillippines, with the fastest flight time averaging approximately 18h 30m.
The only direct flight option for direct flights to the Mactan-Cebu International Airport can be found out of Toronto, from the Lester B. Pearson International Airport. Available flights out of Vancouver feature at least one connecting flight but are generally shorter than the flight from Toronto. Cathay Pacific is the only airline offering direct flights from Lester B. Pearson International Airport, but Air Canada, Japan Airlines, SilkAir, China Southern Airlines, EVA, China Eastern, Philippine Airlines, West Jet, Korean Air, KLM, Air China, Air France, and several American-based airlines, including Alaska Airlines, Delta and United provide connecting flights.
Mactan-Cebu International Airport is 14.5km from Cebu City’s bustling Mango Square. There are two ways to get there; the most common way is by bus, but taxis are also popular ways to get to and from the airport. Mactan-Cebu International Airport has official bus lines that depart every 20 minutes, dropping passengers off at SM City Cebu, the city’s most popular shopping mall. From there, travelers can walk, take a taxi or jeepney to Mango Square and other neighborhoods. Bus fare is only about C$0.65. Alternately, travelers can just take a taxi directly, but this can be more costly. Due to increased traffic in the area, both methods can take anywhere from half an hour to over an hour.
Cebu City is full of excitement, from the bars, restaurants, shops, and nightclubs of Mango Square to a wealth of historic monuments, ancient temples, cathedrals, nature preserves and more. The aforementioned SM City Cebu is the city’s most popular shopping mall, followed closely by the Ayala Center Shopping Mall. The oldest Catholic church in the Philippines, the Basilica del Santo Nino, founded in 1565, is located in Cebu City; 1730 Jesuit House is another fantastic destination for history buffs, preserving ancient relics and artifacts from all over the country.
Cebu City is also famous for its iconic streets, markets and scenic vistas. No trip to the city is complete without strolling down Colon Street, perusing its many shops and street vendors.
