Flights to Varadero, Cuba from Canada range from about 3.3h-24h. The precise length of your flight will depend on several factors, such as your departure city and the length and number of stopovers you make. If you’re flying out from an airport in the eastern provinces, such as Toronto Pearson, you’re most likely to have a flight time on the shorter end of the spectrum, due to distance and the increased likelihood of a direct flight. Conversely, if you’re departing from an airport in the western provinces, like Calgary International, your flight time will likely be longer because of distance and the fact that you’ll make at least one stopover en route to Varadero.
You can choose from daily direct flights to Varadero from Toronto and Montreal via Sunwing Airlines. If you’re departing from other major airports in other Canadian cities, such as Calgary, Ottawa, and Vancouver, you can likely book a flight that has just a single stop. Be sure to search for flights with airlines that regularly fly into Varadero, such as Sunwing, Air Canada, and American Airlines. When you do book a flight with a stopover or two, you can expect these to be made in cities like Toronto, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Miami, all of which are common to this route and dependent on the airline.
When your destination is Varadero, you’ll alight at Juan Gualberto Gomez Airport (VRA), about 32.6 km southwest of Varadero city centre. To reach the city centre from the airport, you can take a taxi, which will take about 28 minutes and cost about C$32-40. For about the same amount of time and less money, you can also opt to take a local bus, the La Habana-Varadero line from the airport to Varadero. The bus will let you off almost 3 km from the city centre, at which point you can take a taxi. The whole journey should cost about C$15-19.
