No matter the season, Canada’s capital city of Ottawa is an exciting place to visit. From museums and galleries to historical sites to family-friendly events and entertainment, there’s enough here to see and do for any interest or age group.

In the summer, walk along the Rideau Canal or take a sightseeing tour by boat. In the winter, lace up your skates and glide along the canal for a fun way to see the city. Appease your craving for culture with a visit to one of the many museums and galleries in Ottawa, including the National Gallery of Canada, Canadian War Museum, Canadian Museum of Nature and Canadian Science and Technology Museum just to name a few.

Head to Parliament Hill to see the Parliament buildings and go for a free guided tour (offered daily), watch the changing of the guard (only in the summer), wander through the ByWard Market and do some souvenir shopping or pick up some fresh produce, and don’t leave Ottawa without trying a beavertail pasty, a unique Canadian treat.

Check out some photos that show off the best Ottawa has to offer.
