Etihad Airways Check-in

Online check-in is available between 24 and two hours before departure. At the airport, check-in desks open at least three hours before the scheduled departure of the flight. Desks close one hour before take-off. At Abu Dhabi International Airport, check-in opens four hours before the flight is scheduled to depart.

There are two city check-in facilities – at the Abu Dhabi City Terminal and on Sheikh Zayed Road, close to Etihad’s office in Dubai. Check-in at the Abu Dhabi City Terminal is available between 24 hours and six hours before scheduled departure. In Dubai, check-in is available between 24 and four hours before the flight is scheduled to take off.

Etihad Airways baggage allowance

Carry on: One piece is permitted per passenger, weighing no more than 7kg, maximum total dimensions equalling less than 115cm. Passengers may also carry one personal item, such a briefcase, purse or laptop computer.

Checked baggage: Coral (Economy) flyers are allowed to check two bags no heavier than 23kg each and no bigger than 158cm.

Excess baggage: Bags that weigh between 23kg and 32kg will be charged $50 USD. If passengers wish to bring an additional piece of luggage (up to 23kg) it will cost AED500 or $137 USD per piece. A bag that weighs between 23kg and 32kg will be charged at $50 USD.

Passenger change details

Changes can be made, depending on the type of ticket purchased. In general, the cheaper the ticket, the greater the number of restrictions. Child fares

Infants fly for 10 percent of the adult fare. On flights from Toronto to Abu Dhabi, children fly for about 75 percent of the adult fare.

Senior fares

There are no discounts for senior flyers.

Pets

No pets are allowed in the cabin except for falcons and guide dogs. One falcon per passenger is permitted in economy. The charge for one falcon (which is considered to weigh 3kg) is three times the normal excess baggage rate of the journey. All other pets travel in the cargo hold.

Carrying musical instruments

Musical instruments, if too delicate to be placed in the cargo hold, may be carried on board. You must notify Etihad in advance and there may be a fee for this service.

In-flight service

Etihad offers fine dining. The cuisine draws on many influences, such as European, Asian and Middle Eastern. Meals are Halal and do not contain pork or alcohol. Etihad offers several special meals, such as Hindu, Kosher or vegetarian, and should be ordered 24 hours in advance. The airline offers more than 600 hours of entertainment on its state-of-the-art audio-video-on-demand system. In Coral (Economy) Class, videos are displayed on overhead monitors and personal media players are available on some routes.
