Fall is an exciting time in Canada and there are many fun things going on across the country. Instead of mourning the end of summer, add one of these fall festivals to your itinerary this season.

Pumpkinfest

Wellington, Ontario in Prince Edward County plays host to Pumpkinfest every October (dates TBD) to celebrate the humble pumpkin. You can expect many pumpkin-related events including a contest for the biggest pumpkin as well as entertainment and games.

Niagara Wine Festival

Head to Ontario wine country in the Niagara region from September 13 to 28 for the annual Niagara Wine Festival. Choose from various events including wine tastings, seminars, winery tours, concerts, family activities and more.

Okanagan Wine Festival

Along with the Niagara region, British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley produces some of Canada’s best wine. So it’s not surprising they have a festival to celebrate. From October 1 to 11, come for various wine-centric events, including tastings, a wine and cheese soiree, the British Columbia wine award ceremony, delicious meals and a wine tasting cruise.

Celtic Colours International Festival

Come to Cape Breton Island to experience the fall colours like you’ve never seen them, and enjoy the Celtic Colours International Festival. The festival runs from October 10 to 18 and includes many concerts, cultural events, an historic walking tour, a guided hike, community meals, family square dances and much more.

Jasper Dark Sky Festival

The unique Jasper Dark Sky Festival is a way to celebrate the stars from October 17 to 26. The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada officially designated Jasper National Park in Alberta a Dark Sky Preserve. There will be a symphony under the stars, Col. Chris Hadfield will be in attendance, and visitors can sign up for various educational events to learn more about the stars in the night sky.

Blue Mountain Apple Harvest Festival

Just when the fall colours are usually at their peak, so is apple harvesting season. Combine both over Thanksgiving weekend at the Blue Mountain Apple Harvest Festival October 11 to 13 in Blue Mountain Village, Clarksburg and Thornbury. Over the three day festival there will be different activities and events, from live performances and magic shows, to children’s apple activities and face painting.
