Years later, Kansas City became home to our 33rd U.S. President Harry S. Truman, who was born just a stone’s throw away in Independence, Mo. Pick up a postcard in St. Joseph on your way to the historic Pony Express before heading to Liberty, Mo., where the Jesse James Bank Museum stands at the scene of the country’s first daylight bank robbery.
