Hawaiian Airlines Check-in

All inter-island passengers on Hawaiian Airlines should check-in at least 90 minutes prior to scheduled departure. Passengers should plan to check-in for trans-pacific flights between Hawaii and US mainland cities two-and-a-half hours prior to departures and three hours prior to departure for international flights. Inter-island check-in closes 30 minutes before departure, and all other flight check-in options close 45 minutes before departure. Online check-in is available 24 hours before departure and closes 90 minute beforehand.

Hawaiian Airlines baggage allowance

Hand luggage: Hawaiian Airlines allows each ticketed passenger one carry-on item with linear dimensions of no more than 23cm x 36cm x 56cm and weighing no more than 11.5kg. You may also bring a purse, umbrella, camera, a collapsible wheelchair and/or medical equipment. Strollers and car seats can be checked at the gate.

Checked: For inter-island travel within Hawaii, passengers in coach class are charged $17 for the first bag and $17 for the second for all tickets purchased after Sept. 1, 2011. The maximum weight for each bag is 23kg. Bags heavier than 32kg aren’t accepted. For travel between Hawaii and the continental US, passengers are charged $25 for the first bag, $35 for the second bag, and $125 for all subsequent bags. Bags should not weigh more than 50lbs or be larger than 157cm. For international flights, the first two bags are free but the cost of subsequent bags depends on the destination.

Excess: Bags weighing between 23 kg and 32kg will be charged $50. Nothing weighing more than 32kg will be permitted. Fees for additional bas vary depending on flight, so check the website for details.

Passenger change details

Depending on the type of ticket you have purchased, making changes to your reservations may result in a service charge. Changes may be made by calling Hawaiian Airlines reservations or going online. If you have made your reservation through a travel agent or reserved a package online, you must contact the travel agent or company that sold you the package to make changes.

Child fares

Infants under two may travel on an adults lap for free on domestic flights or for the infant price on international flights. Some child fares are available on international flights, so check with the airlines. No child fares are available on domestic flights.

Senior fares

There are no senior fares.

Pets

Hawaiian Airlines will not transport animals on nonstop flights from the US to Hawaii. Animals must be brought into Hawaii via the airport animal quarantine holding area in Honolulu. Hawaiian will accept domestic cats, dogs and household birds, but it is the passenger's responsibility to contact their local government Departure of Agriculture in advance to arrange the paperwork.

Carrying musical instruments

Standard baggage allowances apply. A separate seat may be purchased to carry a large or fragile instrument instead of checking it.

In-flight service

Hawaiian Airlines offers complimentary drinks as well as beverages you can purchase. Meals are not served on inter-island flights because they are so short (30-40 minutes). Hawaiian Airlines is one of the only airlines still serving complimentary meals in the coach cabin. On some flights, Hawaiian offers portable video players for rent.
