You can choose your seat when you make your booking, or after you’ve made it through the Manage My Booking page on the website. There, you can see if you can choose your seat for free or if there is a charge. If you choose to wait until check-in to choose your seat, there is no charge. Passengers travelling with children or specialised groups are assigned seats three days before departure. Certain types of passengers – Gold and Silver Executive Club members and passengers travelling with infants, for example – can choose their seat at the time of booking.
Name changes are not permitted. Depending on the type of fare (restricted, non-upgradeable or non-refundable), the date and time of the flight can be changed online at the "Manage My Booking" section or by calling the reservations number (listed above).
Child fares are available on some short-haul routes and on most long-haul routes. Children between the ages of two and 11 are offered a reduced fare, but that fare depends on the flight. Infants up to two years old travel for 10 percent of the adult fare on any of the routes provided they are travelling on an adult's lap.
BA does not offer senior fares.
Only guide dogs may be taken into the cabin on domestic flights. There is no charge for this unless BA has to clear a seat for the service animal. Domestic pets are carried as cargo. Your pets and their containers do not count as part of your baggage allowance, so you’ll have to pay an excess charge for checking them.
Musical instruments can be carried on the aircraft as standard carry-on items as long as they are not longer than 126cm. This counts as part of the hand-baggage allowance. A separate seat can be purchased to carry a large musical instrument. Musical instruments weighing between 23kg-45kg within the dimensions of 190cm x 75cm x 65cm will be accepted as part of your baggage allowance if you want to check them.
With World Traveller seats, you are offered a three-course meal and a complimentary bar service. The seats have a personal screen and passengers are provided with headphones free of charge. There are more than 200 entertainment options in BA's High Life Entertainment’s Audio and Visual on Demand system.
British Airways has two frequent flier programs: Executive Club, which is tied in with its oneworld alliance, and Premier, a more exclusive, invitation-only program.

The UK's national carrier, British Airways (BA) flies to more than 500 destinations worldwide. From Canada, BA flies from Vancouver and Calgary to London Heathrow Airport, its headquarters. In 2008, BA, capitalising on the liberalisation of transatlantic air travel between the US and Europe, launched a new airline – OpenSkies. On November 13, 2009, British Airways and Iberia Airlines announced plans to merge and, since the merger, BA has become the third-largest airline in the world in terms of revenue and the second-largest in Europe.
