Standing 192 metres high and constructed completely of stainless steel, the Gateway Arch greets visitors on St. Louis flights every year. St Louis has moderate, seasonal weather, but storms can occur at any time of the year. July and August are the hottest and most humid months of the year, and January and February are cold, usually with snow. You won’t need a car in downtown St Louis. You can get almost anywhere downtown with the St Louis MetroLink, which hits most of the area’s tourist attractions. There are even some shuttle buses connecting the MetroLink stations to the attractions. MetroBus, which is part of the same system, can get you farther out into the city. Rent a car if you’d like. St Louis is easy to navigate and you can take the highways out to top tourist neighbourhoods like University City, Central West End and Clayton. Most hotels and tourist attractions have a taxi stand if you need a cab. You can also call for a taxi ahead of time.
