Summer is coming to an end faster than any of us would like, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the last few weeks of it. Make the most out of the rest of this sunny season with our tips for some awesome last-minute summer activities.

Have a picnic

Nothing says summer like a picnic. Celebrate the waning sunny days with an outdoor feast you can share with friends and family.

Plan a staycation in your city

Take advantage of the last few weeks of summer with a staycation and be a tourist in your own city. Book a few nights at a hotel, plan a sightseeing itinerary and make sure to hit all of the landmarks, attractions and museums near you that you never have time to visit.

Camp out

There’s something about sleeping under the stars that just screams “summer” so why not go camping for a weekend while you still can? Search for nearby campgrounds, pack up your gear and get going. Getting out of the city (even if it’s just an hour or two away) can do wonders to reinvigorate you.

Visit a farmers’ market

If you haven’t’ been taking advantage of summer’s bounty, there’s still time! Find a farmers’ market in your area and get ready to buy some fresh fruit and vegetables that taste oh-so-much better than the stuff you’ll be forced to eat come winter.

Take a weekend road trip

Summer is the perfect time for a road trip. Grab some friends, or your family, plan a route, book a bed and breakfast along the way and take a leisurely drive somewhere you’ve always wanted to go.

Book a last-minute vacation

Flights and vacation packages to sunny destinations like Cancun and Jamaica are cheaper in the summer because it’s low season. If you’re itching to get away, see what kind of last-minute options you can find between now and Labour Day.

Hit the beach

There’s no such thing as too much beach time (as long as you have sunscreen and a hat). So grab your SPF, a Frisbee, a cooler full of cold drinks and some towels for a fun day at the beach before summer is over.

Go swimming

Are there public pools in your area? Beat the heat, have fun, and enjoy the sunshine with a dip.

Patio-hop

Patio-hopping is a summer-only activity. Don’t kick yourself when cold weather gets here for not spending enough time sipping sangria outdoors. Choose a few patios you haven’t been to yet, and make a night out of checking them out.

Eat all the ice cream…

…and popsicles, and freezies and slushies – and all of the foods you won’t really want when you’re trudging around in the snow in sub-zero temperatures.
