St George overview

Known as Utah's Dixie, St. George is one of the fastest growing cities in the United States as well as a popular destination for golfers. Seven courses surround the city, each offering different challenges and pars for players of all abilities. Downtown St. George is also worth a visit, boasting a wide selection of museums and art galleries, with a considerable number focusing on the city’s Mormon history and heritage. The city is also a foodie heaven, as well as a hotspot for filmmakers. Outdoor scenes in Western blockbusters such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Jeremiah Johnson were filmed in and around the city, as were location shots for High School Musical 2.

For visitors trekking further afield, St. George enjoys close proximity to Zion National Park and Snow Canyon State Park. Both are celebrated for their striking sandstone rock formations, including mesas, canyons and elevated plateaus. Coyotes and all manner of reptile make their home in both locations, while the highly elusive, but majestic and deadly, mountain lion is a resident of Zion. Last, but by very no means least, the Grand Canyon is 250 miles (402 km) to the southeast, just over the Arizona border, while Las Vegas is a little under two hours away.
