Costa Rica's capital has a fabulous array of both natural and man-made attractions to entice the traveller. Set amid majestic mountains, this city's skyline is an attraction in itself, particularly when viewed from the renowned Justice Square. San Jose is particularly famous for its theatres, of which it has several, all of them inspired by European architecture. Perhaps the most famous ones in the city are the National Theatre of Costa Rica and the Melico Salazar Theatre, both of which are fantastic places to come for some entertainment. San Jose has a very rich pre-Columbian cultural heritage, and the Pre-Columbian Museum of Gold is a wonderful resource for viewing some ancient artefacts, all of them made of glimmering precious metals. In addition to this, the Museo de los Niños, or Children's Museum, is a really unique place to visit and, naturally, a very family-friendly location. The city is also renowned for its beautiful parks. The National Park and the San Jose Central Park are both fantastic green spaces for taking a stroll in or for enjoying a scenic picnic. The Morazán Park is also home to a beautiful neoclassical pavilion called the Temple of Music.
