When is the best time to fly to Muenster?
Muenster experiences a short summer between May and July. Peak season falls between these months, however the picturesque nature of Muenster keeps hotel prices relatively high all year round. There are plenty of local festivals and events taking place all year round, although most will be held during the summer, just before the university year begins. Events such as the Summer Fun Fair are ideal for the whole family, and spans a long weekend in June. International Hanseatic League Day is a city wide festival which takes place in May, and focuses around the Old Town market.
The winter months of December to March experience a lull in tourist numbers. If the low temperatures of 3-5°C are not a problem, then this can be a good time to look for cheap flights to Muenster and lower hotel rates. The Christmas markets are also a unique experience.
April to May see temperatures begin to rise to a more pleasant 15°C and hotel costs and flights to Muenster still tend to be low. Savvy tourists will be able to find slightly lower hotel room prices. There are still events taking place to entertain the locals, as well as tourists, including the family friendly Spring Fun Fair, as well as Memorial Day.
Muenster is a small university city near the border with the Netherlands. After the Second World War, much of the Old Town (Alstadt) was rebuilt to resemble a picturesque image of the Middle Ages. Muenster is brimming with history, culture, and all of the modern attractions to be expected of a metropolitan city. The city even hosts their own Oktoberfest in September, which offers all of the delight but without the crushing crowds of the Munich Oktoberfest.
History and cultural enthusiasts who take a flight to Muenster will be spoilt for choice in the city. The Old Town is one of the most idyllic areas of the city, and is packed with small market stalls as well as designer high street stores. All Weather Zoo is fun for everyone, and is full of wild and exotic animals such as bears, apes, tigers, and all manner of lizards.
Prinzipalmarkt is a shopping street within Muenster which offers variety, from big brand clothing to perfume and oddities. As a university town, there are plenty of bars and clubs around for visitors to enjoy after hours. Muenster also offers plenty in the way of restaurants, serving up a range of both local and international cuisine.
