Local beers at nearby US airports
Buffalo, Seattle, Burlington and Detroit
Buffalo Niagara International
Unsurprisingly, as Labatt has its US headquarters in Buffalo, Blue Zone (located between Gates 3 and 4, open 5am-8:30pm) serves the Canadian beers that Americans have come to love. Labatt Blue is the top-selling Canadian beer in the US.
Seattle Tacoma International
Visit the Seattle Taproom in Concourse B at Sea-Tac. The ales are hand-crafted in the PacNW. Alaskan Amber is our favourite.
Burlington International, Vermont
The airport restaurant One Flight Up (on BTV’s second level above the United and USAirways ticket counter, open 6am-7pm) serves four local brews: Magic Hat, Otter Creek, Long Trail, and Harpoon. Each is served year round, but the flavours change with the seasons. For Canadians who miss the ol' Canadian pilsner stand-by, there's Labatt Blue.
Detroit Metro Airport
In the McNamara terminal, the Online Cafe (Gate A36) and Diego’s Mexican Cantina (Gate A12) keep it local. The Online Cafe sells Two Hearted Ale from Bell's Brewing Co. in Kalamazoo. The India Pale Ale High Seas is described by its brewer (the Michigan Brewing Co.) as "well suited for Hemingway-esque trips to the Upper Peninsula".
From the Michigan Brewing Co. in Webberville also comes a Nut Brown Ale, which follows the traditions of 16th-century English brewing – it's lighter than a stout but has plenty of rich maltiness. Arbor Brewing Co. provides the Red Snapper Special Bitter, an amber ale, and the Sacred Cow, an IPA.
Diego's sells the India Pale Ale High Seas.
The North Terminal is home to Ruby Tuesday, which serves Mackinac Pale Ale from the Michigan Brewing Co.
