Last-Minute Flights 101

Be ready to fly at a moment's notice

Looking for reputable last-minute flights that will allow you to get away from your daily routine? You don’t need to visit overly exotic locales in order to have a good time. The United States offers a number of cosmopolitan cities that will keep you busy: New York, Boston and Philadelphia are cultural and historic hotspots. Miami, Phoenix and Los Angeles, on the other hand, offer warm weather and welcoming environments.

When searching for last minute flights, you should certainly consider a few days in Los Angeles. After landing at Los Angeles International Airport, you can travel to the city and stroll down the beach in Santa Monica, peruse the La Brea Tar Pits or walk the boulevards in Hollywood. You might even have the good fortune of bumping into a movie star or two. San Diego is just down the coast from Los Angeles and can be accessed without much trouble. In fact, the San Diego Zoo is world famous, and you will be able to view a range of beautiful and exotic animals.

The northeastern United States features an uninterrupted string of cities that extends from Boston all the way to Washington, D.C. Because last minute flights to these cities will surely be snatched up quickly, you should act quickly to get the best deals. Boston offers a walk along the Freedom Trail, the battlefields at Lexington and Concord and a number of other sites Americans consider historically important. Washington is, of course, the seat of government. You can amble down the National Mall, visit the Smithsonian or walk along the banks of the Potomac River. In some instances, you can even book a guided tour of the White House.

Some of the best last-minute flights will even provide you with the chance to visit America’s Pacific Northwest. The deciduous rainforests of Washington and Oregon offer waterfalls, mountain trails and steep-sloped volcanoes, many of which are still considered active. Most people fly into Portland or Seattle, which are excellent bases for further exploration. The Oregon coast is especially beautiful. It features long stretches of pristine rocky beaches.
