Child-friendly diversions at airports in British Columbia

Victoria and Vancouver

Victoria International Airport

Children’s activity books and crayons are available at the Red Coats Information Desk, and White Spot has its much-loved Pirate Paks. Tim Hortons serves the donuts.

The Eagles Landing Observation Lounge on the 3rd floor is a great place to watch the planes take off and land.

Vancouver International Airport

YVR is one of the most beautiful airports in the world. The Spirit of Haida Gwaii, The Jade Canoe, by Bill Reid, is, rightly, the star of the show. The stunning statue – 6m long and 4m high – stands in the International Terminal. The airport is studded with spectacular Northwest Coast Aboriginal art, which expresses the character and heritage of BC.

Budding aviators will enjoy the Public Observation Area. This new space has views of YVR's airfield, and the telescopes at the windows provide a close-up view of the aircraft landing and taking off and the general airfield activity.  A large scale model offers a bird's-eye perspective of YVR's island home and touch-screen kiosks illustrate various aspects of the airport’s story including past, present and future growth of Vancouver International Airport.

There are a slew of kiddie-friendly eateries such as Tim Hortons, A&W and Burger King.
