Canada is home to a vast number of wineries thanks to several regions where vineyards thrive and the grapes produced there lead to exceptional wines. Whether you’re a wine lover, or just want to learn more about how great wines are produced, take a trip to one of the country’s best wineries.

Gaspereau Vineyards, Nova Scotia

Just outside of Wolfville, Nova Scotia you’ll find the Gaspereau Valley, home to Gaspereau Vineyards. It was the first vineyard to be established in the valley and is best known for Rieslings. The vineyard also produces fruit-forward white wines and robust reds. Enjoy complementary wine samples in the boutique, and complementary daily tours.

Vignoble de L’Orpailleur, Quebec

L’Orpailleur Vineyard is located in Quebec’s Dunham Valley, where the vineyard planted its first vines in 1982. The vineyard produces several types of wine, including reds, whites, rosé, ice wine and Brut. They offer several educational tours, including a four hour harvest tour where guests learn about what it’s like to work in the field at a vineyard.

Summerhill Pyramid Winery, British Columbia

One of Canada’s most visited wineries, Summerhill Pyramid Winery in Kelowna, can be found in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. The wines here are regularly honoured with international awards, and the winery follows organic growing practices; meaning no herbicides or pesticides are used on the grapes. Tastings and tours are offered daily.

Hidden Bench Vineyards and Winery, Ontario

Beamsville, Ontario is where you’ll find Hidden Bench Vineyards and Winery, an artisan winery dedicated to producing premium wines in small batches that are only released twice a year. They own and operate three sustainable vineyards in the Beamsville area. The best way to get a chance to own some of their wines is to join one of their wine clubs: the Terroir Club, the Bench Club or the Estate Club.

Inniskillin, Ontario

Award winning Inniskillin has been in the wine-making business for 35 years and has wineries in both Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario and the Okanagan Valley, British Columbia. Well known for their ice wine, Inniskillin also produces many varieties of table wine. Drop by for a tasting, or a tour, or learn all about ice wine at the ice wine tasting bar.

Mission Hill Family Estate Winery, British Columbia

Founded in 1981, Mission Hill Family Estate Winery can be found in the heart of Okanagan Valley wine country. The family-owned winery has five distinctive vineyards in each of the Okanagan Valley’s growing regions from which it produces an array of award winning wines.  Take a tour to learn about their wine-making philosophy and to see their underground barrel cellars.
