As sad as we are to see summer coming to an end, fall is a beautiful season that brings with it the chance to see the leaves change colour all across Canada. If you’re excited to see the fall foliage, here are some of the best spots to see those beautiful autumn colours across the country.

Algonquin Park, Ontario

Visitors to Algonquin Park in the fall are in for a treat when it comes to viewing the fall colours. The justifiably popular provincial park is huge, meaning there are plenty of stretches of changing leaves to catch sight of. Aim for the end of September to early October for the best colours.

Laurentian Mountains, Quebec

An abundance of sugar maples makes the Laurentian Mountains a good destination for seeing the fall foliage. Yellow birch and American beech are also prominent, making for a vibrant display of colours. The colours usually peak around the second week of October so aim to go before then.

Bruce Peninsula, Ontario

Get out your hiking shoes and head to Bruce Peninsula along the Bruce Trail (the longest footpath in Canada). You should find good spots to see the fall colours at many places along the trail, but one of the better ones is Bruce Peninsula.

Cape Breton National Park, Nova Scotia

Take in superb views of the fall foliage on a hike or drive along Cabot Trail in Cape Breton National Park. It’s known as one of the best places to see the seasonal colour change in Canada and one of the best times to go is the first week of October.

Prince Edward Island

Put Prince Edward Island on your fall travel list to see some of the best seasonal colours in Canada. The whole province is full of opportunities to see the fall foliage from the middle of September through to the middle of October.

Rocky Mountains, Alberta

Alberta’s Rocky Mountains are another ideal place to catch the fall foliage, in particular Banff and Jasper National Parks. The reds, yellows and golds are usually on full display from late September throughout most of October and this is also a time when the area is less congested with visitors.

Muskoka, Ontario

The Muskoka region of Ontario, otherwise known as cottage country, boasts some beautiful fall foliage and makes for an easy weekend trip from Toronto. Think about renting a cottage over a fall weekend to spend some time enjoying the rich reds and golden yellow leaves.
