• A national here and Montego Bay’s local son, Samuel Sharpe was a slave whose efforts helped bring emancipation to Jamaica. The Croydon coffee and pineapple plantation where Sharpe grew up is today a tourist attraction that also offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the production process of the crops. Visitors can count on being treated to a selection of local exotic fruits.
• Visitors arriving on cheap flights to Montego Bay who nevertheless have a taste for the exclusive things in life can consider joining the bathing club in Doctor's Cave. The club was founded in 1906 when local doctors formed a local association at a nearby beach property. Access to the area was limited to an entranceway within a cave though this was destroyed by a hurricane in 1932, but the club continued on. Today, visitors can get to the beach from Montego Bay's Gloucester Avenue.
• Another must-see attraction near the top of any visitor’s itinerary is the Montego Bay Marine Park. It is open to all but your choice of activity will dictate which zone you are sent to. There is a wide variety of pastimes on offer including water sports and fishing.  Submarine tours of the reefs are also available via private operators.
