Getting downtown Minneapolis

Located about 16km south of Minneapolis, the airport is between 15 and 30 minutes away from the city.

Public buses, shuttles, limousines and taxis are all available at the airport. Rental car agencies are also well-represented.

The cost of taking a bus is US$1 though that doubles during rush hour while a taxi costs in the region of US$17-$25 to the downtown area of either Minneapolis or St. Paul.

• The Minnesota Fringe Festival, a celebration of live stage performance and visual arts with an emphasis on theatre, dance, performance art, puppetry and storytelling, takes place annually. Last year’s Fringe saw about 1,000 participating artists and 15,000 attendees.
• The Minneapolis Sculpture Garden is run by the Walker Art Centre in conjunction with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. The 4-hectare park is best experienced in the spring or fall.
• It is an obvious mention but the Mall of America, the largest one in the US, is nothing short of a shopper’s paradise. More than 500 shops, an amusement park and an aquarium all conspire to put immense pressure on visitors’ wallets though a measure of relief can be gleaned from the fact that there is no sales tax on clothing and shoes in Minnesota.
