In the bustling city outside, Western commercialism and Eastern Buddhist traditions exist side by side. Peak Season:The best time to take cheap flights to Bangkok is between November and March. Temperatures are in the mid 20s (Celsius) and humidity is at its lowest. At this time, hotels are often fully booked and rates can be double those during the off season.
Off Season:If you don't mind it hot, humid and rainy visit in May, June, and September. Flights and hotels can be cheaper.
Bangkok International Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is 30km east of Bangkok. Once travellers have landed on cheap flights to Bangkok there are taxis and buses readily available from the airport. Getting a taxi from the taxi rank is the best option as the price will be fixed. Make sure you have some small change in Baht as visitors must pay the tolls on the roads into Bangkok.
For minimum cost and maximum relaxation, after you've disembarked your cheap flights to Bangkok, take a taxi or tuk-tuk rather than walk or drive around Bangkok.
Skytrain is a quick way of getting around. It whizzes along a monorail high above Bangkok and links with the underground. A bonus is the wonderful view of the financial and shopping districts. The underground system is easy to use and the bus system extensive too.
The water taxis that stop along the piers of the Chao Praya river are also very popular with tourists.
All travels begin and end in Bangkok. Domestic flights, trains and buses reach most destinations, in particular the towns of the North and the islands.
Bangkok International Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) (website: www.bangkokairportonline.com) is situated 30km east of Bangkok. BKK is the major airport, where cheap flights to Bangkok land.
Don Mueang (DMK) (website: www2.airportthai.co.th), the secondary airport 24km from Bangkok, serves domestic flights for some of Thailand's low-cost airlines. If flying to the islands, make sure you check the airport from where you'll depart.
