Times vary by route. The airline recommends checking in between 45 and 60 minutes before scheduled flight departure. The desks close 30 minutes before departure if departing from Ottawa, Winnipeg, or Montreal, 20 minutes before departure from Sudbury, Thunder Bay, Timmins, North Bay, Sault Ste Marie and Kitchener/Waterloo, and 15 minutes before departure from Sioux Lookout, Red Lake, Dryden, Kenora, Fort Frances, Kapuskasing, The Pas, Flin Flon and Lynn Lake.
Hand luggage: One carry-on piece is permitted per passenger, with a maximum weight of 6kg.
Checked baggage: There is a free baggage allowance based not on the pieces of luggage you have, but solely on weight. Your bags must not exceed 23kg or you’ll have to pay excess charges.
Excess baggage: Excess rates are $25 for overweight luggage of between 24kg and 34kg; an additional $35 if the piece is between 34kg and 45kg. Items over 45kg must be shipped as cargo.
Seats are not pre-assigned. Given the aircraft flown by Bearskin Airlines, everyone gets an aisle and a window seat.
Changes and cancellations can be made online. If the outward journey is complete and you wish to change the inbound leg, travellers are advised to call reservations at 1-800-465-2327.
Infants under two years travel free on an adult's lap. Children over two years travel at the full price.
Senior fares are available. Bearskin offers a 10 percent discount off the regular fare, but it can’t be booked online. Senior fares must be booked via the Reservations Centre or a travel agent.
Pets are carried in the cargo section of the plane. No pets will be transported between October 15 and April 15 because of the colder temperatures. The fee is $70 plus tax one-way. There are extra fees for larger, heavier pets.
No refreshments are available. Also note that there are no washrooms on board any of the planes.
The airline offers Aeroplan reward points – you can either redeem or collect them with Bearskin.
Bearskin Airlines does not offer a meal service on its flights.

Bearskin Airlines is a regional airline based in Sioux Lookout, Ontario. It was founded in 1963 by Otto John Hegland, a bush pilot, who flew from its base at Big Trout Lake, Ontario. The airline is named after Bearskin Lake where Hegland had a general store. It started out by providing charter flights to the First Nations reserves in northern Ontario. Today it offers more than 100 departures daily to 17 destinations in Ontario and Manitoba. Its major hubs are Thunder Bay and Sudbury.
